[NHL Hockey game] Family outing to Scotiabank place

We went to Scotiabank place, home of Ottawa Senators, two Sundays in a row.

Well that is not quite correct.
I went there only last Sunday to watch Ottawa Senators' game against Carolina Hurricanes.
But, the boys went to Scotiabank place to "SKATE"  yesterday with Mr. D.
It's was for the Christmas party from Mr.D's workplace.
I wish I could have been there with them, but I had a seminar day I was not allowed to miss. (oh, what a joy :( )

There were nearly 20,000 people attended the game.

Sens was Eastern Conference champions in 2007.

Can they(we) get those glory again?

Zamboni needs to work between the periods.

Huge TV screens

We were at the 300 level.
But, we had a good view, sort of :)
Scoring was seen so clearly from up there.

Yay~~ Go Sens go!!

Fight back your glory!

Last Sunday's Sens game was actually our first Sens game.
It was disappointing that there was not one game played at daytime or late afternoon last season.

The game started with national anthems of the U.S. and Canada in order.

As boys go to bed at 8 p.m., it's not possible to bring them to an evening game.

We are lucky that Sens had a game starting at 5 p.m.
As expected, there were lots of kids on that day.

You must know this already if you watch hockey games.

As hockey is such a intense and energy requiring sport,
the players on the ice are constantly switching.
and also that is why you see so many players at bench.

Unlike IIHF rules which allow upto 20 players per game,
NHL rules restrict the total number of players per game to 18, plus two goaltenders.

In the NHL, the players are usually divided into four lines of three forwards, and into three pairs of defenceman.

It was really fun.
Remi and Pablo have been in a few different professional sports' games, e.g. baseball, CFL football, ice hockey, and of course tennis games.

Remi concentrates full time on games.

However, I seriously think there should be a ticket only for a period
for 5-year-old kid like Pablo.
You should allow the kids of 5-year-old or younger to pay less, as they don't watch games full time.
He is very good watching tennis, for one set :(

After the first set, he is totally distracted and plays.
Thank God, he doesn't ask for leaving.

He just played by himself except for the moments when Sens scored the goals.
He cheered the team with all the spectators who were excited of the goals.
So he clapped without knowing the cause.

Ottawa sens defeated Hurricanes by 4-3. Yay.
Sens are doing fine, not really, but comparatively, this year.

It's fun to watch a player (or a team) you support win.
Each time Sens scores a goal,
what an excitement you experience and share with anybody sits next to you.

Jason Spezza(Back No. 19) was the hero of the day, with two goals!

Well I kind of like when two players put down their hockey sticks to fight, because it changes the atmosphere and the game flow completely.

Nonetheless,
I don't think any parent would like to show such a fight to his/her own kid.
It was not a pretty scene.

Anyway, the game was awesome.
The only thing I didn't like about the Sens game was that we had to stuck at the parking for 40 minutes before we could hit the road. Sigh...
Still I would say it was an awesome afternoon &evening.

Boys fell asleep in the car on our way home, which was not too bad.
The bad thing was that we had to wake them up to brush their teeth.

Then yesterday, Mr. D broidught kids to the Christmas party, held at Scotiabank place.

All my three guys had fun.

Remi has been skating very well already last year.
Pablo's skating skills are improving every time he goes on the ice.

They skated on the ice rink where Ottawa Senators have their home games.

Pablo's skating skills get better each time he is on the ice.

Happy boy.

He looks like a penguin, i.e. Pablo the backyardigan, especially when he skates.
We expect Pablo to start hockey by March.

It's quite different to see it from down on the ice.

Joyful Brothers on the Scotiabank place on December 4, 2011.

He was the one who was most excited yesterday.

Remi in the penalty box (without reason)

After skating he tried shooting the hockey puck.

They skated first when they got there
, before they met Santa and received some snack and presents.

These are the photos taken in two weeks.

Have a nice first Monday of December ~
