[Meatballs with Sweet and Sour sauce] Delightful main dish on a bed of rice

To be honest, I had never been a big fan of sweet and sour sauce.... until I encountered with this oh-so-easy-and-tasty sweet and sour meatballs. Some time ago, I was cramming for an exam and Mr. D went out and bought some assorted dinner at a deli. One of the items he bought was sweet and sour meatballs, probably for kids. But, we all liked the bite size meatballs coated with sweet and sour sauce. Especially kids loved the meatballs. They like all kinds of meatballs indeed: Swedish meatballs with gravy and jam just like at IKEA, Meatball spaghetti, and dutch meatballs called gehaktballen. And now, there is an addition: sweet and sour meatballs. Most recipes uses ground beef, but I mix beef and pork as they make a better taste together. It's same with meatloaf which tastes much more tender and juicy when you add a relatively a large portion of ground pork. Meatballs are delicious and sweet & sour sauce are so appetizing that you'd better be careful not to eat too many!

It's just so easy to make that you can prepare it within a half hour. And odds are you have all the ingredients on hand because all the ingredients are just very staple basic items in your kitchen. These meatballs are a crowd pleasing at any type of gathering, including a potluck at workplace. You can make ahead and keep warm in a slow cooker. Oh, a bonus: this sauce is so easy and can be used for a variety of foods, even for vegetables!

Here goes the recipe for delicious sweet and sour meatballs!

5. Bring to boil.

6. Add meatballs. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 25-30 minutes.

A vegetable side dish would be a nice accompaniment.
